I was on the phone to one of my very good friends the other day and we drifted into the subject of Apps. Our conversation soon transformed into a statistical debate, throwing ever greater numbers at each other.
For example 85% of all mobile devices are Android. On average iPhone Apps make 75% more money than their Android counterparts, despite the Google Play market share being four times that of Apple. Android users spend on average £8.62 per transaction, where Apple users spend £24.59. All very interesting stuff. Interesting if you are actually considering to hire a developer to build your App.
Your first hurdle is budget. App development and running costs can be eye-wateringly expensive, especially if you are looking to build for both Apple and Android devices. All is not lost though because a number of App building platforms allow you to dip your toe into the waters at a dramatically reduced cost.
Now do not get too excited thinking you can develop your own Apps. This is a specialised and continuingly evolving area that requires both creative and technological skills if your App is to be successful.
